Happy Monday! Does anyone else get the Monday blah’s? I sure do, but honestly I’ve felt pretty pumped overall today, because I had a really awesome long run on Saturday. AND if you’ve been following me on instagram you also probably know that my sister visited us for a few days, which was so much fun! It was much needed time spent with family and much needed quality running. All of it definitely gave me the mental boost needed to get through this week.
So, without further ado, here’s a little recap on my weekend!
Saturday we decided to walk around the downtown area at our new stomping grounds. There are so many cute shops! It’s also very much a touristy area, but so very fun!
After walking around, we went home, made some lunch and got ready to meet my mom half way to drop off my sister. She starts school very soon, so this was probably the last sleepover for a while or at least until the next school break.
Marathon Update – 18 Mile Long Run
After dropping my sister off, we came home, and I started to gear up for my long run. I waited until the end of the day because I DO NOT do well in the heat, and in all honesty I needed a GOOD long run and not an “I need to stop every. single.mile. for a water break” long run. Plus my sister was around and didn’t want to have her sit at home and wait for me to finish a run.
Aaron rode his bike next to me the whole way. It was so much fun! Getting started was somewhat of a struggle, which is pretty typical for me. But once I got to about mile 5, I was in a groove and ready to conquer the world!
The last 4 miles were also a struggle….in a digestive tract kind of way. My stomach just was not having it. So, there were a few stops I had to pull myself and my stomach together. But in the grand scheme of the run, it wasn’t the worst because everything felt good besides my digestive system, and that wasn’t until the last few miles. I count that as a win for a long run! 😉
Ah, such a good weekend! I hope you all had a great weekend and are having a great start to your week!
What fun things did you do this weekend?
